Investment Office

Brown’s Advisory Committee on Corporate Responsibility in Investment Policies (ACCRIP) considers issues of ethical and moral responsibility in the investment policies of the University. Committee members include faculty, staff, students and alumni of the University. The committee is advisory to the president of Brown.

The Investment Office provides support to ACCRIP to execute the proxy voting process related to Brown’s direct investments. In 2007, the Corporation of Brown University approved proxy voting guidelines drafted by ACCRIP that remain in place today. They provide guidance and consistency for ACCRIP’s role in examining all proxy resolutions concerning issues of social responsibility that are presented to the University as a shareholder.

ESG-related shareholder resolutions covered by the guidelines are automatically voted in accordance with the guidelines.
